Keeping Families Together

Community Chest was established in 1983 to raise funds for the nation’s many social service organisations, relieving them of the burden of fund-raising so they can focus on their primarily responsibility of caring for and serving the less fortunate.

Singapore has one of the fastest-ageing populations in the world, and the demands for elder care services will only grow in the coming years. The population of elderly people is expected to constitute 19% of the population by 2030; almost three times the current size.

We fund and support community-based programmes that help dignify the lives of the elderly, which enable them to stay with their families or community for as long as possible. We fund programmes that provide care for homebound or ill seniors, as well as shelter and care for those without families or homes. We also support the family members who are responsible for taking care of the elderly.
