Children text

Our children are our society’s future.

Aaliyah is born with Apert Syndrome.  This is a rare genetic disorder that involves multiple birth defects - skull appears misshapen; middle of the face is sunken, fingers and toes are stuck together. Aaliyah has undergone so many operations that her mother can't even keep count.

After attending the Early Intervention Programme, Aaliyah can now walk up and down the staircase by holding the railing, feed herself and do colouring.  Two years of early intervention programme has certainly proven fruitful for Aaliyah.

Donate to Community Chest.

You can help these children maximize their potential and prepare them to lead independent lives.  Community Chest funds educational, social and counselling programmes such as special education, early intervention, life-skills training and therapies for children in need, especially children with disabilities like Aaliyah.

Families Text

Families are the bedrock of every society.

Mdm Faridah's condition of Myasthenia Gravis (weakening of
the body muscles) and Thymoma (a rare type of tumour) has affected her health and the family's financial situation drastically.

With available assistance schemes, PPIS Jurong Family
Service Centre (FSC) helped the family tide over the critical period.  Mdm Faridah started signing up for enrichment classes such as sewing and cooking.  Despite her health condition, she makes
use of her acquired skills to help bring in additional income for
her family.

Your support enables us to fund programmes that help troubled families to overcome their difficulties - single parent family support, family service centres, counselling, helplines, case management and family life education.  Keeping families together happy and united is fundamental in reducing social issues such as divorces, youth/ teen gangsterism, school dropouts, and drug abuse.

Elderly text

Singapore has one of the fastest-ageing populations in the world.

Mdm Lee may be 74 years old, but she doesn't let her age or her pain get in her way as a resident at AWWA Community Home for Senior Citizen. Energetic and resourceful, she helps with household chores such as sweeping the floor and washing dishes.  She also escorts her fellow residents to medical appointments, cooks for those who are weak and looks after her roommate who has mild dementia.

Donate to Community Chest.

We fund and support community-based programmes that enables the elderly to stay with their families or community for as long as possible.  For those homebound senior citizens, we support programmes that provide delivery of hot meals to their homes daily.  For those elderly without families or homes, we support programmes that provide shelter and care.

Disabilities text

With the right opportunities, support and
resources, people with disabilities can lead independent lives and contribute back to society.

Hui Qi has Cerebral Palsy, a brain disorder that impairs muscle
control.  She relies on crutches to move around.  But these crutches
and her determination brought her where she is today - a confident, cheerful Customer Relationship Executive in local Multinational Corporation with a diploma from Ngee Ann Polytechnic.  She is even pursuing a part-time degree now.
