Hi! I am Ye Hui Qi, one of the hundreds of thousands of beneficiaries whom you have empowered with your generous support to Community Chest.
Your strong support over the years to Community Chest tells me that there are many out there who believe in aiding the less fortunate. You have inspired me, and I hope that you will continue to inspire others in society to grow more empathetic and accommodating to people with disabilities and better integrate them into society.
I would like to dedicate this poem to you, which is based on my life experiences:
I learnt not to compete with pace,
but to relish the sights and sounds along my journey that often seemed longer than the rest.
I learnt to smile at the glances and stares along the way,
as if they were the gifts of limelight.
I learnt to laugh at myself for the slips and falls,
a moment after the pain was gone.
I learnt to rejoice at the little acts of kindness,
though sometimes, wishing that world was a better place.
I learnt to marvel at the big hearts,
and not the big bucks.
I learnt that opportunities did not happen by chance,
but were the fruit of someone else's faith in me.
