The nation answered the clarion call of the Care & Share Movement during its 28-month run since December 2013, uplifting the social service sector by a total of $1.3 billion. This amount comprises over $800 million in donations raised by the 241 voluntary welfare organisations(VWOs) during the Movement with the nation's generous support and $500 million matching grant by the Government and Tote Board that will be fully unlocked to the VWOs given the strong fund-raising efforts achieved by the VWOs.
Deputy Prime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam was the guest-of-honour. Special Guests Minister Heng Swee Keat, Minister Chan Chun Sing and Minister Tan Chuan-Jin, all of whom are great supporters of the Movement, were also among those present.
Participating VWOs under the Movement were represented at the concert, which had a crowd of over 4,000 celebrate the joint efforts of making a more caring and inclusive Singapore. Regional and local artistes, such as singers Frances Yi[, Dick lee, Nathan Hartono, Joi Chua, and Lauren Yeo, as well as flutist Rit Xu, performed in their segments alongside beneficiaries. Among them were dancers from AWWA Senior Community Home, Beyond Social Services and Very Special Arts, as well as drummers from MINDS and APSN Tanglin School.
