  1. When and where will the walk be held?
    Heartstrings Walk @ Esplanade Park 2008 will be held on Saturday, 23 August 2008 at the Esplanade Park.

  2. What is the flag-off time?
    The walk will flag off at 5.15pm. Please arrive by 4.30pm to warm up for the walk.

  3. How long is the walk route?
    2.5 km.

  4. Do I have to complete the entire walk route?
    No, but we encourage you to walk as far as you can.

  5. Will the event go on even if it rains?
    In the event of adverse weather due to unforeseen circumstances, the organisers reserve the right to cancel the event. There will be no refunds in the event of a cancellation.

  6. What sort of attire is appropriate for the walk?
    You are strongly encouraged to “dress up” in colourful and fanciful attires to add to fun and colours to the event. Participants are also advised to dress lightly to prevent heat exhaustion and dehydration. A good pair of shoes that can withstand walking long distances is recommended and do drink enough water throughout the event.

  7. Where are the first aid & water stations?
    There are 2 first aid & water stations, manned by volunteers, located along the course.  Participants experiencing difficulty can seek professional medical assistance at these medical stations. In addition, there will be one medical station at the Esplanade Park.

  8. Is there transportation provided before and after the event?
    No. For the safety of the participants and to facilitate traffic arrangements for the event, Connaught Drive will be closed to all motorists from 2.00pm to 10.00pm. Public bus services will be diverted away from the road closure area.

    The nearest bus stop is at The Esplanade and the following bus services are available 36, 56, 70, 97, 111, 133, 162, 195 and 502. The nearest MRT station is City Hall.

    Participants who drive can park at the nearby shopping centres – Marina Square, Suntec City and Esplanade. In view of the expected crowd, we strongly encourage you to use public transport services.

    Participants who travel by taxi can drop off at the following locations, which are about 5 minutes walk away from the start point.

  9. Is there any bag deposit service?
    No, there is no bag deposit service available. You are encouraged not to bring valuable items and to carry your personal belongings with you at all times. Organisers shall not be liable for any loss and/or damage of items.

  10. Can I bring young children or babies to the walk?
    Participation in the walk is free for children aged 5 and below, so you are welcome to bring children to the walk. However, they will not be entitled to the goodie bag and the chance to participate in the lucky draw.

  11. Can I use inline skates or cycle?
    For safety reasons we recommend against the use of inline skates or bicycles on the walk route.

  12. Can I bring my dog to walk with me?
    You may bring your dog, but please consider the fact that there will be large numbers of people and small children at the event. If you do bring your dog, kindly ensure that it is on a leash at all times and that any necessary safety measures are taken (e.g. muzzling).

  13. Are toilets provided along the route?
    Toilet facilities are available near Connaught Drive. Please check with the route marshals along the route who will be able to point out the nearest available toilets.

  14. Are showering facilities provided?
    No.

  15. What is in store after I complete the Walk?
    Join us at the Carnival which will take place at the Esplanade Park until 9pm! You can look forward to food and games for the family, handicrafts by beneficiaries, activities by student volunteers from the National University of Singapore, stage entertainment and lots of other fun-filled activities. Registration
  1. How much is the registration fee?

      Registration fees
    Individual $10 each
    Group of 40 people and more 10% discount = $9 each

  2. What can I expect upon registration?
    All paid participants will receive the following:
    • Goodie Bag (To be redeemed after the walk)
    • A chance to participate in the lucky draw and win attractive prizes
  3. Where can I register for Heartstrings Walk @ Esplanade Park 2008?

    c) At any AXS Stations
  4. When is the closing date for registration?
    The closing date is 13 August 2008 or when the participation has reached its maximum capacity, whichever is earlier. 

  5. Can I register on the actual day of the walk?
    No. Onsite registration will not be entertained.

  6. How will I know if my entry has been accepted?
    You will receive a confirmation slip via email. It is important that you provide a valid email address.

  7. Why didn't I receive my confirmation slip?
    Your registration was not successful and therefore the confirmation slip was not rendered.

    You could have entered a wrong email address at the point of registration so the confirmation slip is not being sent to the correct address.

    The email has been blocked by your mail server and/or treated as Spam.

    For further queries, please send us a note at ncss_heartstringswalk@ncss.gov.sg. Please leave your name, NRIC and telephone number and allow at least 3 to 5 working days for a response.

  8. Can I make changes to my personal particulars after I have submitted my registration?
    Yes. You can make changes to your personal particulars by sending us an email at ncss_heartstringswalk@ncss.gov.sg.

  9. Do I need my parent / guardian’s consent to participate in the walk?
    Yes, for persons below 21 years of age, parental / guardian’s consent is required. Please get your parent or guardian to complete the indemnity form in the registration form.

  10. Is there any difference if we register in groups? Is there any discounts?
    Group registrations are most welcomed. There will be a 10% discount if you register as a group of 40 or more. Please download the group registration form here.

    Please note that participants who are below 21 years old are required to complete a separate individual registration form with parent’s/guardian’s consent and signature.

  11. After I have registered, what do I do next?
    Please collect your goodie bag coupon at any AXS station 2 weeks after receiving the email confirmation notification. Bring the coupon on the day of event to redeem for goodie bag at the end of the walk.

  12. Will I be able to claim double tax exemption for the registration fees?
    We are sorry that registration fees are not eligible for double tax exemption.

  13. Do I get a refund if I have registered but could not participate on the event day?
    We are sorry but registration fees are not refundable.
Lucky Draw
  1. What must I do to qualify for the Lucky Draw?
    Every participant who paid the registration fee will automatically be entitled to a chance at the Lucky Draw. No lucky draw coupon will be issued. Registration form with incomplete information will be disqualified from the draw.

  2. When is the draw conducted?
    The Draw will be conducted on 3 September 2008, 3pm at NCSS Centre. The address is 170 Ghim Moh Road, #01-02 Singapore 279621. Results of the draw will be published in The New Paper on 10 September 2008. All winners will be notified by post.
Goodie Bag
  1. When and where can I collect my goodie bag?
    Your goodie bag can be collected at the Goodie Bag Collection Point at the end point after the walk. Please present your AXS goodie bag coupon for redemption.

  2. I have lost my goodie bag coupon. Can I get it replaced?
    No, we are sorry that lost coupons cannot be replaced.
