Having worked more than 25 years with the Ministry of Environment, and now in NEA, Mr Chua has been the NEA's appointed SHARE Liason Officer for the last two and a half years.
Mr Chua holds a strong personal conviction about what he does. His personal vision is to see all fund-raising come under the umbrella of a single governing body. This will bring about synergies, while avoiding duplication and unhealthy competition for each charity dollar. To him, SHARE is the closest thing to this vision, which is why he is happy and proud to take on his role of encouraging his fellow colleagues' participation in a good cause. Besides, he also feels that SHARE provides a good platform for NEA staff to identify with its core value of "caring".
He firmly believes that if everyone were to chip in just a little, the combined effort can mean alot, and a great deal can be done. He shares Dr Vivian Balakrishnan's view that providing for the less fortunate is not simply the role of the State, but that a many-hands approach is the best way forward. Through SHARE and ComChest, the funds raised are not channelled only to specific groups, but diverse needy groups can benefit as well.
