The Central Provident Fund Board (CPFB), a long-term partner with Community Chest, has launched another new initiative as part of its employee engagement – the opt-out scheme for SHARE Programme.
Mr Soh Chin Heng, Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Services Group) of CPFB commented, “We came up with the idea of an opt-out scheme as we recognize that human beings are generally compassionate but passive by nature. By doing away with the need for applications, we made it easier for our staff to participate in SHARE while still giving them the flexibility to opt-out if they wish to. We are happy that this opt-out scheme has been effective and well received. None of our new staff opted out of this scheme even though they could do so easily!"
From 1 May 2009, new officers who joined the Board are also introduced to the SHARE Programme. Four months into the new scheme, CPFB has seen positive responses - all 114 new officers, who joined the Board from 1 May 2009, have participated in the SHARE Programme.
The opt-out scheme was started to streamline the process of applications as well as to encourage SHARE participation among staff. Typically new staff were briefed about SHARE and given the option to sign-up. Now, they are informed that they can choose to opt out of the scheme if they wish to.
