Q: What is the purpose of the Give A Hand! Card?

The Give A Hand! Card is available at $2 each (inclusive of GST). Proceeds of the Give A Hand! Card would go towards helping the programmes and beneficiaries supported by Community Chest.

Each card contains a Drawing Contest component and a chance in the Give A Hand! Lucky Draw.

Q: What is the objective of the Give A Hand! Campaign?

The Give A Hand! Campaign is an annual fund-raising project by Community Chest to engage the community, corporations and individuals, in sharing with the less fortunate among us. Through the activities, we aim to showcase the talents of our beneficiaries and show examples of how the donations have helped them improve their lives.

Q: Am I entitled for tax exemption benefits for the purchase of the Give A Hand! Card?

As it is considered as a purchase of merchandise, there would not be tax exemption benefits.

Give A Hand! Drawing Contest

The Drawing Contest has 2 categories, namely the single card category and the multiple cards category.

Drawing done on 1 card would be judged under the single card category. A drawing or montage done using more than 40 cards would be judged under the multiple cards category.

Q: Can I submit any drawing for the Give A Hand! Drawing Contest?

Yes, we hope your drawing will inspire and express a strong feeling of hope and inspiration for the less fortunate amongst us.

The drawing should not, in any sense, contradict any social and religious values and rules of the law. This may include any content that we view as harmful, threatening, defamatory, abusive, vulgar, and racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable.

Q: What should I do if I don’t have an idea what to draw?

The Give A Hand! Card includes a stencil of a hand, which you could use as a possible design for the drawing. It is not necessary for the drawing to contain the hand.

Q: Can I use my own paper?

Only entries using the official Give-A-Hand! Card would be qualified for the Drawing Contest.

Q: Can I use crayon to draw?

Yes, you may use your own drawing materials. It could be crayon, magic pens, watercolours, oil painting or any medium except digital printing.

Q: Can I include my company’s logo in the drawing?

Yes, you can. However, the size of the logo should not exceed 5% of the drawing space.

Q: Can I dedicate my drawing to a specific cause or passion?

Yes, you may. You can draw a picture to inspire children, elderly, families and/or people with disabilities. It could also be more specified e.g. children with autism, people with hearing disabilities etc.

Q: Can I submit different names for the Drawing Contest and the Lucky Draw Contest ?

Yes. For example, the Drawing Contest can be done by your daughter and submitted under her name while you complete the Lucky Draw coupon with your personal particulars.

Q: My son is only 6 years old. Can he take part in the Drawing Contest?

There is no age limit. The Drawing Contest is open to all except employees of National Council of Social Service and their immediate family members.

Q: When is the deadline for the Give A Hand! Drawing Contest?

All drawings should reach Community Chest at 170 Ghim Moh Road, #01-02 NCSS Centre, Singapore 279621 by noon, 23 March 2009 to qualify for the contest.

Q: How do I submit my entry?

You can submit your entry by post or by hand to Community Chest, 170 Ghim Moh Road, #01-02 NCSS Centre, Singapore 279621. If you are submitting by hand, the scheduled hours are Mondays to Fridays, 10am to 5pm. For multiple cards, please secure the cards and form a montage before submission.

Entries with incomplete information will be disqualified from the contest.

Q: Can I submit more than one entry or enter more than one category?

Yes, you can.

Q: Can I buy 50 cards and submit 50 individual drawings?

Yes, you may. They would be considered as 50 entries under the single card category.

Q: Can I buy 50 cards and submit a piece of drawing consisting 50 cards?

Yes, you may. It would be considered as 1 entry under the multiple cards category.

Q: Can my friends and I buy 1 card and work together to submit a piece of drawing?

Yes, you can. It would be considered as 1 entry under the single card category.

Q: Can my friends and I buy 10 cards and submit a piece of drawing consisting 10 cards?

While the drawing could be showcased at the Community Chest events or given to the beneficiaries to inspire them, it would not be eligible for the Drawing Contest as it is less than the minimum number of cards required under the Multiple Cards category.

Judging for the Drawing Contest would be conducted on 15 April 2009 at NCSS Centre. The address is 170 Ghim Moh Road, #01-02 NCSS Centre, Singapore 279621. The organiser has the right to change the judging date and time at its sole discretion.

All winners would be notified by post.
