The Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon 2008 is over, and we trust that all participants had a great time! This year's Marathon has been very meaningful as it adopted seven charities, supported by Community Chest. Many individuals generously helped to raise the needed funds by signing up as charity runners and running for their chosen causes.
The seven official Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon 2008 charities are:
- AWWA TEACH ME - supports children and youth with physical disabilities, and helps integrate them into the mainstream community.
- MINDS Lee Kong Chian Gardens School - provides social, vocational and life skills to children and youth with intellectual disabilities.
- The Singapore Cheshire Home Residential Care - provides care and rehabilitation for individuals with physical disabilities, allowing them to lead as normal a life as possible.
- APSN Centre for Adults - develops and trains individuals with mild intellectual disabilities for employment, to enable them to reach their fullest potential and lead fulfilling independent lives.
- HELP Family Service Centre - cares for the well-being of vulnerable single parent families.
- TRANS Centre (Bukit Timah) - helps distressed families deal with challenges and cope with their responsibilities.
- HCA Hospice Day Care Centre - provides care and support to patients suffering from life-limiting illnesses.
Community Chest would like to express its deepest appreciation to the charity runners below who commited much time and effort to help raise funds for the benefit of some 4,700 beneficiaries. We would also like to thank the many donors who supported the charity runners with their donation pledges.
