Since its inception in 1994, Children’s Day Appeal has been the biggest fund-raising campaign targeted at children island-wide. It reaches out to about 350,000 students every year. Community Chest’s Children’s Day appeal seeks to :
• Raise funds for 161 social service programmes run by 72 charities supported by Community Chest.
• Inculcate the value of caring and sharing among children.
• Provide a easy platform for pre-school and primary school students to do their bit for the less fortunate in Singapore.
During Children’s Day celebrations, students are encouraged to donate part of their savings or pocket allowance in a donation envelope, which they will receive through their schools prior to Children’s Day.
Participating schools are also encouraged to create their own fund-raising events and pledge funds raised to Children’s Day Appeal.
