Every year, the Istana Open House is a vibrant offering when access is opened to the public to celebrate special occasions. Visitors enjoy a unique and fun-filled day of tour within a precious and important part of Singapore, the Istana.
About the Istana
The Istana is the official residence and office of the President of Singapore. Meaning "palace" in Malay, it is where the president receives and entertains state guests. The entire domain occupies over 100 acres and is a welcome green lung located along the busy Orchard Road.

What’s On
Visitors can enjoy a stroll or picnic in a serene natural setting. A wide variety of cultural performances awaits the guests on the grounds. Visit the Staterooms in the Istana Building to view a special display of gifts presented to the President and the Prime Minister. Finally, end the day by picking up exclusively designed Istana merchandise.

- Monday, 15 February 2010 (to celebrate Chinese New Year)
- Saturday, 1 May 2010 (to celebrate Labour Day)
- Sunday, 8 August 2010 (to celebrate National Day)
- Friday, 10 September 2010 (to celebrate Hari Raya Puasa)
- Friday, 5 November 2010 (to celebrate Deepavali)
Admission
Istana Grounds
Admission is free for all Singaporeans and Permanent Residents.
Other visitors are required to pay an entrance fee of $1 per person.
Staterooms
$2 per person for all visitors.
Visitors are advised to avoid wearing shorts and slippers into the Staterooms.
Entrance to the grounds is via the main gate at Orchard Road.
Opening hours are usually from 8.30 am to 6.00 pm.
All proceeds of admissions and sales of merchandise to the Open House will go to the Community Chest.
