Our Home Help Service Programmes

The 2005 General Household Survey revealed 22,000 elderly persons lived alone; 47,000 lived with their elderly spouse with no children in the household. These figures will only rise in the years to come. As such, there is a critical need for Home Help Services in meeting the basic needs of these elderly persons.

What is Home Help Service?

It is a programme run by various charities, providing frail and homebound elderly persons practical assistance in daily living tasks at their own homes. This programme allows elderly persons who are permanently or temporarily unable to look after themselves to remain in their own homes with their basic needs met.

What does Home Help Service seek to do?

• Provide practical assistance in daily living tasks for frail and homebound elderly persons in their own homes
• Provide emotional care and support for frail and homebound elderly persons
• Provide stress relief for caregivers with practical support

 What services does Home Help Service provide?

• Meals delivery
• Laundry service
• Escort service for medical appointments
• Assistance in personal hygiene
• Assistance in home maintenance and housekeeping

 What are the eligibility criteria for Home Help Service?

• The elderly person is a Singapore citizen or permanent resident; aged 55 years and above.
• The elderly person is:
  1. 1. living alone; or
  2. living with another frail elderly or caregiver; or
  3. without a caregiver during the day
• The elderly person requires assistance in daily living tasks, such as taking meals, bathing, dressing and moving around.
• Other criteria from the respective charities running the programmes.
